Last year’s Mobile World Congress showcased many games that were expected to be launched by various gaming franchises in the year 2013. Some of these were teasers while others were interesting gameplay footages. Nevertheless, these games are scheduled to hit the shelves soon and make the year a memorable one for gamers. Let’s take a look at why some of these games will be interesting additions for most gamers.

10. The Last of Us (PS3):

Naughty Dog teased the next game from their fold, The Last of Us, at Spike Video Game Awards in 2012. There have been a lot of games with apocalypse as the theme. So what does Last of Us have as different? The game has Ellie and Joel, a father-daughter duo, who starts their journey from Pittsburgh after apocalypse, gradually extending their explorations to other parts outside the city. Drawing inspiration from novels and movies such as City of Thieves and I Am legend, the game is sure to catch the fancy of gamers. Last of Us is set to launch on May 7, 2013.

9. Tomb Raider (PC, Xbox 360, PS3) :

You may ask how, what else can the game franchise offer. Developers seem to have been asking the same to themselves and have apparently decided to introduce a new angle. Crystal Dynamics, the developer of the game franchise, has rebooted this edition to feature a young Lara Croft who sets out on a journey of survival to unveil her identity as Tomb Raider. Players can explore the island, face challenges and play side quests as well. Get ready to start on the adventure with a young, attractive Lara Croft. The game will release across different platforms on March 5, 2013.

8. Dead Space 3 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) :

Dead Space is here again enticing gamers with new things including anew playable character.This is the third part of Dead Space series featuring a new campaign along with a new character called John Carver. The plot of the game is based in a frost planet named Tau Volantis and involves quest of the protagonists John Carver and Isaac Clarke to end Necromorph invasion. So, what do the game obstacles involve? The duo has to overcome ice-climbs, violent wilderness, avalanches etc. to help earth escape Armageddon. Players can experience these adventures from the shoes of Isaac Clarke and John Carver which released on February 5, 2013.



7. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Xbox 360, PS3) :

Metal Gear Solid 4 had raised quite a furore. This spin-off to the franchise was expected to raise some more. This is an action-packed installment in the Metal Gear series and is a spin-off that is to take place years after the setting of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of Patriots. We have major cyborg clashes taking place in the game which gamers will surely not give a miss. The game has the cyborg Ninja Raiden pitted against several cyborg enemies in his attempt to rebuild an unknown nation. The game released in February 19, 2013.

 

6. God of War: Ascension (PS3) :

Revenge still seems to hang in the air around the God of War franchise and developers have decided to bring out a prequel to serve the gamers more of the cold dish. Ascension is a prequel to the entire God of War series and showcases the story of Kratos much before he turned into Ghost of Sparta. Kratos seeks revenge against Ares for tricking him into killing his child and wife. Multiplayer support for upto eight players are provided in the game, which is sure to draw in as many folks as possible. Is vengeance still the order of the day? It remains to be seen when the game releases on March 12, 2013.

 

5. Beyond: Two Souls (PS3) :

‘Beyond: Two Souls’ is the latest game from Quantic Dream and showcases the story of Jodie Holmes. Jodie Holmes is portrayed by Ellen page. Players journey along with Jody through the game to discover the meaning of ‘Idan’. The game which releases this year has a plot which revolves around the question of what happens after death. For those who have an affinity to the other world, indulging in the ethereal nature of such questions, the game will surely prove to be an entrancing one.

 

4. Gears of War: Judgment (Xbox 360) :

The game has been developed by People Can Fly and Epic Games and is a prequel to Gears of War 3. The major storyline of the franchise has concluded but the developers and the gamers seem to find it hard to let the game die down. The game features a story surrounding the early days when war against Locust took place. Multiplayer modes will be available on the game which is set to be released in March 19, 2013. The mighty aura of the Gears of War franchise and the multiplayer modes are sure to glue players to their seats come March 19.

 

3. GTA V (Xbox 360, PS3) :

Cars, guns, money! One can never get enough of Grand Theft Auto. Ever since 2008, this is the first major title in the franchise and fifteenth in the series. The plot revolving around the place Los Antos in San Andreas and surrounding areas, is set in tune with current day Los Angeles and South California. GTA lovers have much to look forward to in the fifth major installment. The game will feature three playable protagonists for the very first time. The Social Club functionality given in the game will interconnect different titles like max Payne 3 and GTA V. Fasten your seatbelts and await the release of the game is expected to be sometime in the second quarter of 2013.

 

2. Star Trek (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) :

The franchise with such a huge fan following now comes to the gaming arena. Namco Bandai Games has developed the game in association with Paramount studios. Many details about the epic action-adventure game have not been revealed as of now. However, what is known is that there will be an original storyline with co-op gameplay featuring Spock and Kirk. The game features the fight against Gorn, an enemy seen in the original Series of Star trek. Who would not want to be playing the roles of Kirk and Spock and go on an epic-adventure saving the entire universe? Wait until the game is set to launch in the first quarter of 2013 to get on board the Enterprise.

 

1. BioShock Infinite (PC, Xbox 360, PS3) :

BioShock Infinite is a shooter game set in first person in the backdrop of the year 1912. A combination of win and the supernatural, the game promises to take you to the warring atmosphere of Columbia. The protagonist Booker DeWitt who is a former Pinkerton agent rescues a young woman Elizabeth who had been held captive for twelve years at the floating-air city in Columbia. The warring factions in the city pursue the duo after their escapade. Booker soon realizes that Elizabeth is the main key to the conflict in the city as she has special powers that can manipulate rifts occurring in time-space continuum occurring in Columbia. The third edition in the franchise is to be released in March 26, 2013.
